For one lens to have similar image quality as two OEM lenses is outstanding. The zoom mechanism is non linear in twisting effort at parts of the zoom range and the weight feels like it is more than both Canon lenses combined, but for me this is an acceptable compromise as changing lenses is not always possible depending on shooting conditions.
It is tack-sharp throughout the entire zoom range, much more so than the Tamron 16-300 mm lens I traded in.
I bought this lens mainly for travel and convenience, to avoid hauling several heavy lenses around.
Spanning an impressive wide-angle to super-telephoto range, the Canon EF-mount 18-400mm f/3.5-6.3 Di II VC HLD from Tamron is a true all-in-one lens to suit photographing the widest of vistas to the details of wildlife.
Designed for APS-C-format DSLRs, this 28.8-640mm equivalent lens uses a three-step extension design to maintain a compact and lightweight form factor despite its expansive reach.
Subject shot so far: Birds, Flowers (macro), Pets, Photoshoot of a so-called Model, Planes, My family, Head Shots. I love the fact that I no longer have to change lenses during an average shoot.
